'Community Needs Assessment' to chart future path

(2.1.13) The Public Research Group (PRG), in association with parks and recreation consultant GreenPlay, was retained in 2012 by the Skokie Park District to aid the district in the establishment of priorities for future capital improvements, programs and recreational services. The independent firm's final report is now available below.

Data was collected from Skokie residents through mail, telephone, and email surveys, as well as in focus group sessions. Data was also collected through focus groups consisting of park district staff and the district's board of commissioners.

"We expect this survey to help us chart a course for the future, which will allow us to continue to provide quality parks and recreation services for Skokie," said Executive Director John Ohrlund, "The report should also form the basis of a future five-year comprehensive plan for the district."

The district commissioned its last community survey in 2002. Among the two surveys' consistent findings were that more than 93 percent of Skokie surveyed residents agree that the Skokie Park District contributes to the quality of their lives.
