Park board commissioner nomination papers available

(9.18.14) The Skokie Park District announced today that one of its five board of commissioners positions will be open and will appear on the ballot in the April 7, 2015 local election. The six-year board position is currently held by Michael Alter. Alter has indicated that he intends to seek re-election.

Commissioners serve a term of six years without compensation. Filing for candidacy requires collecting 103 signatures of registered voters of the Skokie Park District on petitions for nomination, completing and filing a statement of economic interest, and filing a statement of candidacy.

The Board of Commissioners meet at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month and call for special meeting and public hearings as needed, at the Weber Leisure Center.

Candidates seeking election to the Skokie Park District board of commissioners may pick up nomination papers at the Weber Leisure Center, 2nd Floor Administrative Office, 9300 Weber Park Place, Skokie, Ill., beginning on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 9 a.m., and may begin circulating petitions that same day. Candidates officially file by returning their completed packets to the district's administrative office, between December 15, 2014 at 9 a.m., and December 22, 2014 at 5 p.m.
