The fun is right here in October!

(10.2.15) If you are new to Skokie, one of the great privileges of living in this wonderfully diverse village is your access to some of the nations’ best classes, special events and facilities. With contemporary facilities housing the arts, fitness, senior programs, nature, golf, skating, pools, a heritage museum, the children’s Exploritorium, rowing, childcare and more — as well as 44 beautiful outdoor parks — October is one of the best times to explore all of the amazing offerings within the boundaries of the Skokie Park District.

On October 11, visit the Devonshire County Fair, a fun, three-hour look back at a simpler time. The fair will feature princesses and super heroes, hay wagon rides, puppies on parade, inflatable fun, a pie eating contest, an egg toss, mini-pumpkin decorating, popcorn, cotton candy, luscious fall foods for sale, an interactive circus performance, fantasy face painting, children's music and merriment by Joel Frankel, and blues, folk, and country music.

From October 14-25, the district’s critically-acclaimed senior acting troupe, Still Acting Up, will present an original performance entitled “Hi-Tech," also at Devonshire. Throughout the month, the entire family can also enjoy several unique Halloween events, including Scream Scene 2015 (the Skokie Water Playground’s annual haunted house), the Ex-Scare-Itorium for children, Things That Go Bump in the Night (a non-scary look at nature’s creatures), and the Skatium Ice Arena’s Halloween public skate and costume contest, hosted by WCIU-TV's Svengoolie.

And the best time to buy your tickets for November's Devonshire Playhouse run of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” is right now! The classic Andrew Lloyd Webber show that has been nominated for eight Tony Awards over its three-time, 40 year Broadway run. Click here to purchase tickets online.

So rekindle your romance with the Skokie Park District next month — by visiting one, ten or all — of the district’s 60 marvelous destinations, either in person or online at www.SkokieParks.org.
